Glass tissue or glass mat is a non-woven material, composed of uniformly distributed glass strands. These are bound by means of organic additives- mainly thermosetting resins. These form a tissue which, after polymerisation, is rolled up and packaged ready for dispatch.
Glass mat is not susceptible to atmospheric agents or to UV rays, is supple and traction-resistant, will not rot and is dimensionally stable. Its porosity makes it easy to impregnate, while it also demonstrates good chemical resistance and possesses excellent waterproofing, anti-corrosion and fire protection characteristics.
